Request to expand BUDI Diesel subsidy to uncles, aunts under study
Subsidised diesel is sold at RM2.10 per litre nationwide from July 1 under the BUDI Diesel initiative.
PETALING JAYA: The domestic trade and cost of living ministry is looking into requests to widen the BUDI Diesel eligibility transfers to include extended family members.
The ministry’s Sarawak director, Matthew Dominic Barin, said the transfers were currently limited to immediate family members, namely spouses, parents, children and siblings, Dayak Daily reported.
He said the request for eligibility transfers to be expanded to include uncles and aunts is being studied.
“We have received many questions and issues, and we understand the concerns,” he said.
Under the BUDI Diesel initiative, subsidised diesel is sold at RM2.10 per litre nationwide from July 1.
Matthew also said more than 26,000 of the 37,880 commercial vehicles eligible for the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) in Sarawak have registered under the scheme.
“We invite all eligible vehicle owners and companies to apply through the ministry’s offices or online via the MySubsidi portal and check their eligibility so they can enjoy the diesel subsidy provided,” he said.
The ministry has expanded SKDS eligibility to include company-owned private vehicles in the jeep and pickup categories, adding to the 23 vehicle categories previously covered under the scheme.
