Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito was taken to a hospital after falling ill during a Federalist Society dinner in Philadelphia, according to CNN on Fridauy.

The 76-year-old justice was evaluated and treated for dehydration before returning home that same evening.

The incident had not been previously reported, and Alito declined to comment when contacted by CNN. Sources with knowledge of the incident provided information to the network. According to close friends speaking anonymously to CNN, Alito has contemplated retirement.

The hospitalization raises questions about the justice's health status as the Court continues hearing major cases, including the contentious birthright citizenship challenge.
