With the war in Iran spinning into a historic disaster, contributing to a collapsing economy and a myriad of other unintended consequences, a growing number of voters who once supported President Donald Trump are now expressing buyer’s remorse. One example: comedian and podcaster Ginny Robinson, who tweeted Thursday, “How do I get a refund on believing in Trump? That was a decade of my life, I’d like to have it back, please.”
Robinson is no soft MAGA adherent. A critic of feminism who has expressed frequent appreciation for far-right influencers like Charlie Kirk and Alex Jones, she spent nearly 10 years pushing a Trumpist agenda, voting for him three times. But in July 2025 — as many of the president’s supporters found themselves dismayed by his handling of the Epstein case — her messaging changed abruptly.
“Y’all are literally protecting pedophiles,” she tweeted at the White House at the time. “You’ve lost nearly all of MAGA and we aren’t coming back.”
Since then, she has referred to MAGA as a “cult,” and declaring “MAGA is dead.”
She is hardly the first former Trump supporter to withdraw her support for the president.
Last month, ex-Trump administration appointee Carrie Prejean Boller also declared the death of MAGA. Longtime Trump ally Tucker Carlson has become an outspoken critic of the president in the wake of the Iran war. A self-proclaimed “J6 activist” admitted she now finds Trump “repulsive.” Joe Rogan has repeatedly criticized the president’s actions regarding Epstein and Iran, and has asserted that the MAGA movement is full of “weird,” “unintelligent dorks.” And Alex Jones — who has been a vocal Trump supporter since he launched his first campaign — now says the president has “dementia” and is “off the rails.”
And these high-profile defections aren’t the only sign of Trump’s waning support. In recent weeks, his approval rating has plunged to historic lows. He’s even slid for the first time into net negative approval among white, non-college-educated voters: his most essential support bloc that has remained loyal to him for a decade.
“I feel so much shame about having ever been a Trump supporter,” said Robinson, perhaps reflecting what many of the president’s former backers are feeling. “Like what was I thinking and was I even????”
