PANews reported on November 10th, citing AXIOS, that several Democratic senators indicated on Sunday that they are ready to move forward with a package of legislation to end the government shutdown. This is the most significant sign of progress in bipartisan negotiations in over a month. Multiple sources indicated that at least 10 Democratic senators are expected to support a procedural motion to advance a package that includes a spending bill and a short-term funding measure to keep the federal government running until the end of January. The agreement includes a vote in December on a Democratic-proposed extension of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credit for another year, and may also include provisions to help federal employees laid off due to the shutdown. Senators unusually remained in Washington over the weekend to meet and are expected to vote on a procedural motion regarding the government funding package on Sunday.
