PANews reported on November 8th that, according to Cointelegraph, a New York jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict in the case of brothers Anton and James Peraire-Bueno, and U.S. District Judge Jessica Clarke declared the trial a writ of amnesty. The MIT graduates were charged with fraud and money laundering related to a 2023 Ethereum blockchain vulnerability that resulted in the theft of $25 million worth of digital assets. The brothers allegedly used the MEV bot to trick users into making transactions. Although they planned the scam for months, they reportedly profited $25 million in just 12 seconds.
