Connor Storrie hosted tonight’s Saturday Night Live.

During the Heated Rivalry star’s monologue, he recalls having to learn how to “play Russian and look like I knew how to play hockey.” He mentions watching the Olympics and seeing the amazing hockey players. When he begins to doubt himself, Quinn Hughes and Jack Hughes of Team USA men’s hockey stop by to tell him that he did great, even though they haven’t had time to watch his show yet.

Jack Hughes, who had lost some teeth during the games, tells him, “I got my teeth knocked out in the finals. Does that happen on your show?”

Storrie looks at the camera, smiling, “Metaphorically.”

There has been some controversy over the men’s hockey players’ cameos, who recently won Gold at this year’s Winter Olympics and appeared at the White House as President Trump’s guests. When they were first invited to the White House, Trump called them, making a joke about the Team USA women’s team, who also won Gold. After the men’s team laughed at the joke, it caused outrage on social media. When it was announced that Quinn Hughes would appear on the show, many saw it as a publicity stunt to clean up the team’s image.

Just as the audience thought it would be only the men’s team, Storrie introduced others “who are not always represented in hockey” and brought out “actual hockey legends,” Team USA’s Hilary Knight and Megan Keller. The audience roared in cheers when Knight and Keller came out next to Storrie. He mentions how cool it is that they are all here with him. Knight replied, calling out Trump’s comment, “It was just gonna be us, but we thought we’d invite the guys too.”

“We thought we’d give [the men’s team] a moment to shine too,” Keller adds.

Quinn Hughes mentioned the last time the men’s team won Gold was 46 years ago. Knight responded, “The last time [the women’s team] did that was two whole Olympics ago.”

Knight was a guest on Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update in 2018, after winning her first Gold medal at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics for Team USA. She has won two Gold medals and three Silver medals, and holds the record for the most IIHF World Championship gold medals.
