Ramadan is the month that always inspires kindness, generosity, giving selflessly, and a deep sense of responsibility towards those in need. In the last few years, technology has transformed many sectors, and philanthropy is also a big part of it. Ramadan donation is no longer dependent only on cash boxes placed in mosques or on in-person fundraising. Today, donors can contribute anytime from anywhere with the help of advanced digital tools that are designed for speed, reliability, safety, and convenience.

Globally, many nonprofit organizations and mosques are seeking different ways to collect and generate more donations, especially in the holy month of Ramadan. The collection cash boxes have been replaced with the latest innovative technological solutions, which have the potential to reach the interested donors across nations. With just simple clicks, taps, and swipes, the charity will reach the needy.

Tech Trends in Ramadan Philanthropy: Contactless and Mobile Giving

In this blog, let’s dive deeper and understand the advantages of contactless and mobile giving and the latest technological trends that have immensely transformed the noble acts of Ramadan philanthropy.

Advantages of Contactless and Mobile Giving

There are several benefits of following one of the greatest technological trends, that is, using contactless and seamless mobile giving, because it extends beyond just comfort and ease. Some of the most prominent benefits include:

For Islamic Charities and Mosques

Implementing a contactless and mobile-friendly donation system is beneficial for the mosques as well as for the platforms for Ramadan fundraising for Islamic charities.

·         Accelerate the Donations Giving

Digital systems are very flexible; they make fundraising an easy option. They have the potential to boost the funds and increase donations.

·         Accurate Fund Management

If the funds are available on the digital records, then they can be managed accurately without any errors. The mosques, as well as the Islamic nonprofit organizations, can track the donations with simple clicks and allocate the funds accordingly and efficiently.

·         Accessibility

Easy access always results in getting more funds. If a donor can make a payment based on their feasibility, then they can support the needy even if they reside far away.

·         Eco-Friendliness

The charitable organizations and mosques need not worry about the huge paperwork. The digital solutions eliminate the need for printed donation slips and receipts.

For Donation and Charity Givers

To maximize the fundraising efforts, especially during Ramadan, the digital tools should have the following attributes:

·         Giving freely

The charity giver should feel relieved whenever they are giving. With digital solutions, there will be no need to carry cash or ask for change. Giving freely without any hassles is something that attracts many.

·         Generation of Instant Receipts

If a transaction is done through online digital platforms, then there is no need to create a manual receipt. The charity donors will get instant confirmations and receipts.

·         Flexibility

The fund givers can make donations at any time, from anywhere, even if they are not physically present at a place. With just a tap, the donation can be made smoothly, safely, and transparently.

·         Enhanced Security

With the usage of smart technology, the risk is eliminated. There is no need to carry and handle cash wherever one goes.

Top Tech Trends Redefining the Ramadan Philanthropy

For decades, Ramadan donations heavily relied on physical collections. Although this method still exists, there are many donors who prefer advanced digital options that fit with their modern lifestyles. Some of the most popular tech trends are as follows:

Subscription-Based Giving and Recurring Donations

Many donors like to give their Zakat and Sadaqah contributions through automated recurring donation options. Several online payment platforms help nonprofit organizations set up automated donations via secure online payment processors.

Mobile Wallets and Contactless Payments

With the rise of several online payment options, the donors’ preferences have also grown.  Choosing mobile wallets and contactless payments is useful. It is highly compatible and makes it easy for the contributors to donate via smartphones.

Tap and Pay Solutions

One of the most widely used payment options is the fast Tap and Pay systems. These are highly used by the Islamic charitable organizations and the mosques to receive donations from interested contributors through Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. This technology is very easy to use; with just a tap, the funds get securely transferred in no time.

Multi-Currency and Cross-Border Payment Solutions

Donations come from across the globe, especially during Ramadan. Many people actively give to charity. At this time, the demand for an international payment gateway that supports multiple currencies is a must. There are some platforms that ease the process of cross-border and multi-currency transactions. This helps the donors to send money irrespective of the country and region they live in, and that too in their preferred currency.

Donation Kiosks

Mosques and Islamic fundraising organizations can set up digital donation kiosks where people can donate using their mobile wallets and credit/debit cards. At the entrance of the mosques, community events and gatherings, such as iftar parties and Friday prayers, organized by Islamic nonprofit organizations can set up a mini donation booth that has an appealing and modern design. This encourages many visitors to participate and donate.

Donation kiosks help people envision that their donations are reaching those in need at the right time. They are one of the best technological trends that has the potential to become a center of engagement. They are super lightweight, highly portable, easy to set up, and are instant ready to use.

Giving through QR Codes

Quick Response code, popularly called QR code, is widely used by many organizations.  Just placing QR codes around the mosque, prayer halls, in the charitable organizations’ events, or on their websites will help the attendees to scan and donate instantly using their smartphones. These can also be placed on Ramadan philanthropy promotional materials to generate more and quicker mobile donations.

Fundraising Management Software and Donation Apps

Many mosques and charitable organizations use their own software and mobile applications to help givers make donations at any time. This is very useful for those interested people who can’t attend the mosque or a specified place in person. With the help of these donation platforms, they can even optimize their fundraising efforts. They are not just user-friendly; they help to track donations, generate reports, manage funding, and donors’ data effectively.

The Future of Ramadan Philanthropy

Globally, the need for technology has grown exponentially. By adopting dedicated digital platforms, Non-Profit organizations (NPOs) and Mosques can optimize their fundraising efforts. They can also streamline the operations to create a more organized approach, so that donors experience a more intelligent, innovative, and interactive way of giving.

Which Altcoins Stand to Gain from the SEC’s New ETF Listing Standards?

On Wednesday, the US SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) took a landmark step in crypto regulation, approving generic listing standards for spot crypto ETFs (exchange-traded funds). This new framework eliminates the case-by-case 19b-4 approval process, streamlining the path for multiple digital asset ETFs to enter the market in the coming weeks. Grayscale’s Multi-Crypto Milestone Grayscale secured a first-mover advantage as its Digital Large Cap Fund (GDLC) received approval under the new listing standards. Products that will be traded under the ticker GDLC include Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, and Cardano. “Grayscale Digital Large Cap Fund $GDLC was just approved for trading along with the Generic Listing Standards. The Grayscale team is working expeditiously to bring the FIRST multi-crypto asset ETP to market with Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, and Cardano,” wrote Grayscale CEO Peter Mintzberg. The approval marks the US’s first diversified, multi-crypto ETP, signaling a shift toward broader portfolio products rather than single-asset ETFs. Bloomberg’s Eric Balchunas explained that around 12–15 cryptocurrencies now qualify for spot ETF consideration. However, this is contingent on the altcoins having established futures trading on Coinbase Derivatives for at least six months. This includes well-known altcoins like Dogecoin (DOGE), Litecoin (LTC), and Chainlink (LINK), alongside the majors already included in Grayscale’s GDLC. Altcoins in the Spotlight Amid New Era of ETF Eligibility Several assets have already met the key condition, regulated futures trading on Coinbase. For example, Solana futures launched in February 2024, making the token eligible as of August 19. “The SEC approved generic ETF listing standards. Assets with a regulated futures contract trading for 6 months qualify for a spot ETF. Solana met this criterion on Aug 19, 6 months after SOL futures launched on Coinbase Derivatives,” SolanaFloor indicated. Crypto investors and communities also identified which tokens stand to gain. Chainlink community liaison Zach Rynes highlighted that LINK could soon see its own ETF. He noted that both Bitwise and Grayscale have already filed applications. Meanwhile, the Litecoin Foundation indicated that the new standards provide the regulatory framework for LTC to be listed on US exchanges. Hedera is also in the spotlight, with digital asset investor Mark anticipating an HBAR ETF. Market observers see the decision as a potential turning point for broader adoption, bringing the much-needed clarity and accessibility for investors. At the same time, it boosts confidence in the market’s maturity. The general sentiment is that with the SEC’s approval, the next phase of crypto ETFs is no longer a question of ‘if,’ but ‘when.’ The shift to generic listing standards could expand the US-listed digital asset ETFs roster beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum. Such a move would usher in new investment vehicles covering a dozen or more altcoins. This represents the clearest path yet toward mainstream, regulated access to diversified crypto exposure. More importantly, it comes without the friction of direct custody. “We’re gonna be off to the races in a matter of weeks,” ETF analyst James Seyffart quipped.
