CHZ Technical Analysis Jan 20

CHZ, while maintaining its general uptrend structure, fell to the $0.05 level with a 7.45% drop in the last 24 hours. Although it gives a bullish signal above the short-term EMA20, Supertrend is bearish and BTC downtrend poses risk for altcoins. RSI at 58.27 is neutral-bullish, MACD shows positive histogram. Critical supports $0.0489-$0.0455, resistances $0.0561-$0.0643. Risk/reward asymmetrically bullish but BTC correlation indicates a cautious approach.

Executive Summary

As of January 20, 2026, Chiliz (CHZ) is trading at $0.05 and experienced a 7.45% drop in the last 24 hours. Although the overall market structure confirms an uptrend, the Supertrend indicator’s bearish signal and $0.07 resistance create short-term pressure. Price remains positioned above EMA20 ($0.05), preserving short-term bullish momentum. RSI(14) at 58.27 draws a neutral-bullish picture away from overbought-oversold zones, while MACD shows upward momentum with a positive histogram. Multi-timeframe analysis identified 13 strong levels: 1D(3S/2R), 3D(2S/2R), 1W(3S/2R). Volume at $73.08M is moderate, reflecting selling pressure with the decline. Bitcoin’s downtrend and bearish Supertrend increase correlation risk for altcoins like CHZ. Bullish target $0.0832 (score 21), bearish $0.0033 (score 4); risk/reward ratio 1.66:1 in favor of bullish from current levels. Strategically, a break above $0.0561 resistance could trigger a rally, but watch BTC $88K supports.

Market Structure and Trend Status

Current Trend Analysis

CHZ exhibits a clear uptrend in higher timeframes (1W/3D); highs and lows are rising progressively. However, the 7.45% drop in the last 24 hours on the 1D timeframe signals a short-term correction. The Supertrend indicator is in bearish mode and positions $0.07 as resistance, increasing trend reversal risk. Price holding above EMA20 ($0.05) indicates preservation of short-term bullish structure. Overall confluence: Uptrend intact but momentum weakness present; volume confirmation required for new highs.

Structural Levels

Multi-timeframe analysis identified 13 strong structural levels. On 1W, the main uptrend channel’s lower band is $0.0455, upper band around $0.0832. On 3D, swing low/highs emphasize the $0.0525-$0.0643 range. On 1D, intraday low $0.05, high $0.06 with consolidation dominant. These levels confirm market structure solidity; breaks will determine trend direction.

Technical Indicators Report

Momentum Indicators

RSI(14) at 58.27, above 50 signaling bullish momentum but not approaching 70, so no overbought. No divergence observed in the recent drop, indicating weak selling. MACD line above signal line, histogram positive and expanding; bullish crossover confirmation strong. Additional momentum like Stochastic and CCI provide moderate bullish confluence. Overall momentum: Transitioning from neutral to bullish, but carries risk of volume-less rally.

Trend Indicators

EMA clusters: Price above EMA20 ($0.05), not below EMA50 ($0.048) and EMA200 ($0.045); short-term bullish. EMA20 > EMA50 golden cross potential exists. Supertrend bearish trailing stop at $0.07 resistance, ATR-based volatility contraction shown. Ichimoku cloud thin and price above; tenkan/kijun cross bullish. ADX around 25, trend strength moderate. Confluence: Short-term trend bullish, medium-term uptrend protected.

Critical Support and Resistance Analysis

Support Zones: $0.0489 (score 71/100, 1D swing low + Fibonacci 0.618), $0.0455 (score 68/100, 3D channel lower + EMA200), $0.0525 (score 61/100, 1W minor support). These levels are first buying zones on downside; break of $0.0489 likely shifts to $0.0455. Resistance Zones: $0.0561 (score 71/100, 1D swing high + pivot), $0.0643 (score 65/100, 3D resistance + Fib 0.786). Upper target $0.0832 (1W channel upper). Level scores volume profile-based; high scores are expected reaction points. Price at $0.05 pivot, upside break triggers rally, downside to $0.0489 triggers stop.

Volume and Market Participation

24h volume $73.08M, moderate compared to previous days but selling volume dominant with 7.45% drop. OBV indicator flat, no accumulation; CMF shows negative divergence. POC (Volume Profile) around $0.0525, liquidity gap below price. Large candles volume-less, increasing manipulative move risk. Participation increase requires $20M+ spike; current volume insufficient for trend continuation, predicts consolidation.

Risk Assessment

From current $0.05, bullish target $0.0832 (66% upside, score 21), bearish $0.0033 (93% downside, score 4); risk/reward 1:1.66 in favor of bullish. Main risks: BTC downtrend breakdown (below $88K), Supertrend flip down, RSI <50 divergence. Volatility ATR 8%, suggested stop-loss $0.0489 (risk 2.2%). Position size limited to 1-2% risk. Macro: BTC dominance increase could trigger altcoin dump. Overall: Medium risk, high reward potential but cautious entry.

Bitcoin Correlation

CHZ shows high correlation with BTC (0.85+); BTC at $89,655 (-3.67%) in downtrend, Supertrend bearish. BTC supports $88,331 / $86,637 / $84,738; break drags CHZ to $0.0455. Resistances $90,944 / $92,953; BTC rally accelerates CHZ $0.0643 test. BTC dominance caution: No altcoin season, CHZ/BTC pair in downtrend. Watch: CHZ long if BTC holds $88K, short bias below.

Conclusion and Strategic Outlook

CHZ preserves uptrend structure but short-term correction and BTC pressure risky. Bullish confluence (MACD, RSI, EMA20) offers opportunity for $0.0561 breakout; targets $0.0643-$0.0832. Bear scenario drops to $0.0455 test on $0.0489 break. Strategy: Long entry above $0.0525, stop $0.0489; short on $0.0561 rejection. Detailed data in CHZ Spot Analysis and CHZ Futures Analysis. Which Altcoins Stand to Gain from the SEC’s New ETF Listing Standards?

On Wednesday, the US SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) took a landmark step in crypto regulation, approving generic listing standards for spot crypto ETFs (exchange-traded funds). This new framework eliminates the case-by-case 19b-4 approval process, streamlining the path for multiple digital asset ETFs to enter the market in the coming weeks. Grayscale’s Multi-Crypto Milestone Grayscale secured a first-mover advantage as its Digital Large Cap Fund (GDLC) received approval under the new listing standards. Products that will be traded under the ticker GDLC include Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, and Cardano. “Grayscale Digital Large Cap Fund $GDLC was just approved for trading along with the Generic Listing Standards. The Grayscale team is working expeditiously to bring the FIRST multi-crypto asset ETP to market with Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, and Cardano,” wrote Grayscale CEO Peter Mintzberg. The approval marks the US’s first diversified, multi-crypto ETP, signaling a shift toward broader portfolio products rather than single-asset ETFs. Bloomberg’s Eric Balchunas explained that around 12–15 cryptocurrencies now qualify for spot ETF consideration. However, this is contingent on the altcoins having established futures trading on Coinbase Derivatives for at least six months. This includes well-known altcoins like Dogecoin (DOGE), Litecoin (LTC), and Chainlink (LINK), alongside the majors already included in Grayscale’s GDLC. Altcoins in the Spotlight Amid New Era of ETF Eligibility Several assets have already met the key condition, regulated futures trading on Coinbase. For example, Solana futures launched in February 2024, making the token eligible as of August 19. “The SEC approved generic ETF listing standards. Assets with a regulated futures contract trading for 6 months qualify for a spot ETF. Solana met this criterion on Aug 19, 6 months after SOL futures launched on Coinbase Derivatives,” SolanaFloor indicated. Crypto investors and communities also identified which tokens stand to gain. Chainlink community liaison Zach Rynes highlighted that LINK could soon see its own ETF. He noted that both Bitwise and Grayscale have already filed applications. Meanwhile, the Litecoin Foundation indicated that the new standards provide the regulatory framework for LTC to be listed on US exchanges. Hedera is also in the spotlight, with digital asset investor Mark anticipating an HBAR ETF. Market observers see the decision as a potential turning point for broader adoption, bringing the much-needed clarity and accessibility for investors. At the same time, it boosts confidence in the market’s maturity. The general sentiment is that with the SEC’s approval, the next phase of crypto ETFs is no longer a question of ‘if,’ but ‘when.’ The shift to generic listing standards could expand the US-listed digital asset ETFs roster beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum. Such a move would usher in new investment vehicles covering a dozen or more altcoins. This represents the clearest path yet toward mainstream, regulated access to diversified crypto exposure. More importantly, it comes without the friction of direct custody. “We’re gonna be off to the races in a matter of weeks,” ETF analyst James Seyffart quipped.
