EquiLend has announced a strategic investment in Digital Prime Technologies to enhance institutional tokenized-asset and digital-markets infrastructure. This partnership focuses on providing comprehensive solutions across trading, post-trade, and data analytics for traditional and digital assets. Both companies aim to address the evolving needs of the market by delivering transparent, seamless workflows for clients involved in digital finance and tokenized assets.

Strategic Partnership to Improve Institutional Financing

The investment will support the integration of EquiLend’s infrastructure with Digital Prime’s Tokenet platform, which provides multi-custodian and multi-collateral lifecycle management. Tokenet’s solution also includes exposure monitoring and institutional reporting features for digital securities and crypto financing. 

The focus will initially be on institutional financing, but future phases will introduce regulated stablecoin collateral and more tokenized instruments to enhance offerings. EquiLend will align its systems with Digital Prime’s platform to facilitate straight-through processing for digital and traditional asset financing.

The collaboration ensures improved transparency and operational efficiency as settlement cycles shorten and financing activities evolve. Both companies intend to improve market infrastructure and client workflows, ensuring seamless integration across various financial instruments.

EquiLend’s partnership with Digital Prime Technologies will integrate key platforms, including EquiLend’s NGT and 1Source post-trade systems, to streamline operations. With the evolving market structure, EquiLend’s investment in Digital Prime extends its reach into tokenized assets, enabling institutions to adopt digital financing seamlessly. Despite having grown to become Bitcoin’s most successful layer-2 scaling solution, with instant and low-fee payments, Lightning’s scale is limited by its reliance on payment channels. Although Lightning shifts most transactions off-chain, each payment channel still requires an on-chain transaction to open and (usually) another to close. As adoption grows, pressure on the blockchain grows with it. The need for a more scalable approach to managing channels is clear. Channel factories were supposed to meet this need, but where are they? In 2025, subnetworks are emerging that revive the impetus of channel factories with some new details that vastly increase their potential. They are natively interoperable with Lightning and achieve greater scale by allowing a group of participants to open a shared multisig UTXO and create multiple bilateral channels, which reduces the number of on-chain transactions and improves capital efficiency. Achieving greater scale by reducing complexity, Ark and Spark perform the same function as traditional channel factories with new designs and additional capabilities based on shared UTXOs.  Channel Factories 101 Channel factories have been around since the inception of Lightning. A factory is a multiparty contract where multiple users (not just two, as in a Dryja-Poon channel) cooperatively lock funds in a single multisig UTXO.
