Card Takes a Hit

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – NOVEMBER 20: Janibek Alimkhanuly is declared the winner by referee Kenny Bayless after defeating Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam in a middleweight bout at Michelob ULTRA Arena on November 20, 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card suffered a significant blow when unified WBO and IBF middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly was removed from the co-main event after testing positive for a banned substance. The Kazakh fighter, who was set to unify three middleweight belts against WBA champion Erislandy Lara, is now fighting to clear his name, but the huge fight for the middleweight division is now off.

The winner might have had a shot at fighting Terence Crawford if he was interestedi n pursuing a title in another weight class. Lara will instead defend his title against Johan Gonzalez in a super welterweight bout.

The loss of the three-belt unification dramatically weakens what was shaping up to be one of the more stacked cards of the year.

The Main Event

I was at Barclays Center for Roach vs. Davis in March and scored the fight for Roach. The WBA super featherweight champion went toe-to-toe with Tank and earned a controversial draw that many believed should have been his victory. Now he’s moving up another weight class to challenge for gold at 140.

Cruz, meanwhile, was the last fighter before Roach to go the distance with Davis back in 2021. The Mexican star lost a decision that night but earned respect for his relentless pressure and durability. Since then, he’s bounced back from a loss to Jose Valenzuela by outpointing Angel Fierro and Omar Salcido to claim the WBC interim title.

Two-division champion Stephen Fulton moves up to challenge WBC super featherweight titleholder O’Shaquie Foster, looking to become a three-division champion—a fight that now carries even more weight with the Janibek-Lara unification off the table.

The Tank Connection

While Davis isn’t fighting on this card and no one knows when or if he’ll return to the ring, Tank is a key piece of the puzzle attached to the main event. Roach and Cruz have fought him with the former being robbed of a decision victory and the latter giving Davis one of his toughest nights in the ring.

Expect to hear Davis’ name called out often during the Amazon Prime Video PPV broadcast. Be on the lookout for post-event coverage following the event.

‘Real product market fit’ – Can Chainlink’s ETF moment finally unlock $20?

The post ‘Real product market fit’ – Can Chainlink’s ETF moment finally unlock $20? appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Chainlink has officially joined the U.S. Spot ETF club, following Grayscale’s successful debut on the 3rd of December.  The product achieved $13 million in day-one trading volume, significantly lower than the Solana [SOL] and Ripple [XRP], which saw $56 million and $33 million during their respective launches.  However, the Grayscale spot Chainlink [LINK] ETF saw $42 million in inflows during the launch. Reacting to the performance, Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas called it “another insta-hit.” “Also $41m in first day flows. Another insta-hit from the crypto world, only dud so far was Doge, but it’s still early.” Source: Bloomberg For his part, James Seyffart, another Bloomberg ETF analyst, said the debut volume was “strong” and “impressive.” He added,  “Chainlink showing that longer tail assets can find success in the ETF wrapper too.” The performance also meant broader market demand for LINK exposure, noted Peter Mintzberg, Grayscale CEO.  Impact on LINK markets Bitwise has also applied for a Spot LINK ETF and could receive the green light to trade soon. That said, LINK’s Open Interest (OI) surged from $194 million to nearly $240 million after the launch.  The surge indicated a surge in speculative interest for the token on the Futures market.  Source: Velo By extension, it also showed bullish sentiment following the debut. On the price charts, LINK rallied 8.6%, extending its weekly recovery to over 20% from around $12 to $15 before easing to $14.4 as of press time. It was still 47% down from the recent peak of $27.  The immediate overheads for bulls were $15 and $16, and clearing them could raise the odds for tagging $20. Especially if the ETF inflows extend.  Source: LINK/USDT, TradingView Assessing Chainlink’s growth Chainlink has grown over the years and has become the top decentralized oracle provider, offering numerous blockchain projects…
