PETALING JAYA: A foreign teenager was charged in the Sandakan sessions court in Sabah today with raping a 61-year-old woman in March.
Alimanja Arioski, 19, was charged with committing the offence at the victim’s house at Batu 7, Sandakan at about 1.30am on March 21, Harian Metro reported.
He faces a maximum of 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping, if found guilty.
No plea was recorded from Alimanja. Judge Roslinda Razali set July 27 for case mention pending the victim’s medical report.
The prosecution was led by deputy public prosecutor Jasmin Walter, while Alimanja was unrepresented.
Yesterday, Roslinda sentenced Alimanja to 14 years’ imprisonment and eight strokes of the rotan after finding him guilty of robbing and injuring the victim.
The court ordered for the sentence to begin from the date of Alimanja’s arrest on March 21, and for him to be referred to the immigration department after he completes his sentence.
