The potential of Ripple’s XRP to transition from a payment token to a global reserve currency is once again in the spotlight. The discussion comes as market participants gather for XRP Las Vegas, starting April 30. New insights from market players and regulators hint at Ripple’s native crypto emerging as a reserve currency.

Will Ripple’s XRP Be A Global Reserve Currency?

Steven Zeiler from Yellow Network led to a surge in the pre-event hype as he shed light on Ripple XRP’s potential as a global reserve currency. On X, he wrote, “Live from Vegas. Impressed by seeing XRP promoted like this.”

Further, he went on to suggest that this is part of a bigger trend amid the hype around XRP Las Vegas. Zeiler described it as “only a step on the trajectory to becoming a global reserve currency.” In addition, he commented on the spread of videos of humongous XRP billboards around the city.

The discussion around Ripple ensued at a time of renewed crypto policy efforts in the United States. Earlier, on April 27, Nick Begich confirmed plans to reintroduce legislation to establish a national Bitcoin reserve.

The new bill, called the American Reserves Modernization Act, builds on previous attempts and will be refined in consultation with the House Financial Services Committee. For context, the legislation would see the U.S. Treasury build a reserve of one million Bitcoin over several years.

Meanwhile, authorities said that an update on the Bitcoin strategic reserve is underway. Patrick Witt said that the conversation about a strategic reserve has been ongoing for over a year. Moreover, Witt hinted at new developments for the national BTC reserve as he spoke ahead of Bitcoin Conference 2026.

Crypto Expert Explains XRP’s Potential

Earlier, some commentators laid out a longer-term vision for Ripple XRP’s position in global finance despite the Bitcoin-centric efforts. Versan Aljarrah said that the asset has the potential to enhance liquidity and payments infrastructure. He said that XRP price shouldn’t be the focal point of discussion.

In 2025, Aljarrah said, “The conversation around XRP is usually clouded by speculation and price predictions. The true potential for XRP isn’t just as a payments token or bridge asset.”

Aljarrah also noted that Ripple’s XRP entry into global reserves would be structural, not price-driven. “Before any asset can become a global reserve instrument, it first needs sovereign legitimacy,” he added.

While the art he created when he was still working was pop at the time, and later classified as traditional pop, there is no such list for the latter format in America, and so his throwback projects and cuts appear on jazz lists instead. It’s on those charts where Sinatra rebounds this week, and one of his popular projects returns not to one, but two tallies at the same time, helping him increase the total amount of real estate he owns at the moment.
