White House refuses to rule out nuclear strike after Trump threatens Iran

When he asked the White House whether President Donald Trump was considering using nuclear weapons against Iran, officials refused to deny it, Mother Jones columnist Noah Lanard reported.

Trump had threatened that "a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again" if Iran didn't open the Strait of Hormuz by 8 p.m. ET Tuesday. When Lanard asked directly about nuclear options, an unnamed White House official responded only "We refer you to the President's TRUTH on this inquiry," and declined to rule out nuclear action.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt later stated only that "the President knows where things stand and what he will do."

The escalating threats, including Trump's Monday statement that Iran "can be taken out in one night", alarmed observers including Tucker Carlson and Anthony Scaramucci. Even some Trump allies questioned his fitness, with Marjorie Taylor Greene calling the threats "evil and madness."
