PETALING JAYA: A restaurant in Genting Highlands, Pahang has been cleared of wrongdoing for charging a customer over RM900 for a steamed patin fish dish in March.
Pahang domestic trade committee chairman Sim Chon Siang said investigations by the domestic trade and cost of living ministry found that there was no element of profiteering, Berita Harian reported.
“The rate of RM338 per kg for the patin fish dish that weighed 2.7kg was found to be within the permitted range. And in the menu, the restaurant had clearly stated that patin fish is sold at RM33.80 per 100g,” he said.
Controversy arose over the exorbitantly priced dish in March after the customer, a foreigner, took to social media to voice his dissatisfaction.
The restaurant was served with a written notice over the matter in April after a formal complaint was lodged.
