TNT Tropang 5G will be wiser, better in the Commissioner’s Cup

“SECOND today, stronger tomorrow.”

With those words, the TNT Tropang 5G signed off from the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup and vowed to be wiser, better in the next battles.

The Tropang 5G settled for runner-up honors behind back-to-back titlist San Miguel Beermen (SMB) after their fightback from 21 points down fell short in a 77-92 loss in Sunday’s Game 6.

The pain stung most for Calvin Oftana, who nearly spearheaded the Tropang 5G’s spirited rally that actually propelled them to a 68-66 upper hand in the third before the Beermen wrested control back and ran away to triumph.

Mr. Oftana was emotional after his 28-point effort and their bid to send SMB into a Game 7 sudden death went down the drain.

But like any other player with a winning mentality, the TNT gunslinger is ready to charge this one to experience and come back stronger with his championship-caliber team.

The succeeding tournament, the Commissioner’s Cup, set for a March 11 opening, will see the Tropang 5G defending the title they won from Barangay Ginebra last season. — Olmin Leyba
