PKR Youth chief Kamil Munim said the right to vote under the constitution should be exercised wisely by young voters.
BUTTERWORTH: Young voters have been urged to improve their political literacy to make choices based on knowledge and understanding and not merely be influenced by sentiment or viral social media content.
PKR Youth chief Kamil Munim said the right to vote under the constitution should be exercised wisely, especially among those who will be first-time voters in the coming elections, as their choices would determine the direction of the country.
“If we don’t know what we are voting for, that means we lack political literacy. The choice made won’t be based on understanding, awareness and knowledge,” he said at a political event for young voters in the northern zone.
Young people should not base the truth of any information based on the number of likes, shares or level of popularity on social media, Kamil said. He urged them to study information, understand policies offered and to assess any party’s record and capabilities before making a choice during elections.
